BOO! zine is here to celebrate creativity, original music and writing locally and beyond. During the noughties I lost touch with a lot of things including live music to a great extent. I thought that Kent would only allow blues or cover bands to exist and that anyway Simon Cowell and his ilk were killing music.  Over the last few years I have been amazed to discover how much incredible live music is happening on my doorstep and that was the inspiration behind the name BOO! - as in surprise! So big-up to the Medway noise scene, Skingasm records, the Thanet scene and the marvellous Sexx Tapes label, the lovely Tom Thumb theatre, the outstanding Ramsgate Music Hall, the Shepway scene, Harp club, Hot Salvation and Smugglers records.  And yes I know that 'boo' is also 'an expression of strong disapproval or disagreement'  but that's kind of appropriate too, as when you are doing your own thing people don't always like it.  So 'boo' right back at you.
