LUNA LACUNA by LUNA LACUNA
In a 2015 Wicker Man remake (sans Nic Cage) the pagan islanders would be dancing to Luna Lacuna. As for me? I need three copies - one in the car for driving through the night, one for when I’m drunk at home and one on my phone for walking through town, headphones in, blotting out external sounds with the dark intelligence, haunting vocals and howling guitars that this thrusts upon you. KEEPING THE BOTTOM REGULAR by BAKING CAKES BY PROXY
This album of sonic experimentation, spoken word and songs was recorded over a frantic 2 days. Does it all ‘work’? Nah. Yet somehow that doesn’t make it a lesser work. It’s too muddled at times and too open at others while significant lyrics often verge on nonsense but rarely drift over. Should I like it? I really don’t know. Do I like it? You know what, yeah I really do. Listen at https:://soundcloud.com/baking-cakes-by-proxy/sets/keeping-the-bottom-regular
FEAR ITSELF by KILL RPNZL
Kill Rpnzl a.k.a Placebo if Brian Molko’s cat had just been run over by an angry ex-girlfriend. This isn’t for someone who has a fear of distortion or fuzz. The bass growls along busily with the guitar at times driving forward while at others playfully chasing around the rhythms. With melodic vocals pushing into screams when required, the EP exudes an intelligent energy with an edge of rage. Listen to the ep at https://soundcloud.com/Killrpnzl/sets/fearitself
