Gang
BOO! caught up with Gang when they played an intimate acoustic set down at Hot Salvation Records earlier in the year and an email interview with the trio followed. Gang are Eric and Jimi Tormey, with the two brothers being joined by Joe Hunt on bass. They make music that swirls and pounds in equal measure.
Gang is a great band name, what made you choose it and did you have any other less cool names before? Once upon a time we wanted to be called The Wolf Gang, then we dropped Wolf and were The Gang, then we dropped The. Maybe one day we'll drop Gang, and just be called __. What are your musical roots and influences? How did the band start and develop? Jimi and Eric's mother introduced them, years later they met their sabbath-loving sibling Joe. What's the song-writing process in Gang? Where does a tune usually start? A better question for us is where does a tune usually end? What makes and defines your sound at the moment ? (E.g particular instruments and gear you use that you love) Our favourite piece of gear is our brains, and it's the only piece of gear no one else can use. Which siblings in rock do you most identify with? Dave and Ray Davies? Will and Win Butler? The Gallaghers or Hanson? Hanson 100% I saw you did a session for Marc Riley, What was that like? Was it a long-time ambition? To be honest we never thought we'd make it that far, it was a blessing. Marc was a lovely dude too. What's next for Gang? Potentially a long-playing collection of songs...
