BOO! news
BOO! is now a radio show. We’ve linked up with Ramsgate Music Hall and are stoked that we will be bringing you a monthly show, sharing both the best of what we’ve unearthed across the south-east, as well as playing tracks from more established artists. The first two BOO! shows are already available to listen to along with a host of other great shows, including selections by the team at Hot Salvation records.

New DIY Shows are starting in Cliftonville, Margate courtesy of Dead Arms frontman Steve Wheeler and local artist Fiona Stewart as a way to support the local music scene in Thanet. The first Question of Silence event took place in Jan and went down a storm, with monthly shows now planned at Roost Restaurant & Café. Here’s what Steve and Fiona had to say to us about the ethos of the shows:
"We are a Not-For-Profit DIY alternative night that strives for inclusivity in everything we do which begins with equal representation on stage and a welcoming attitude to anyone who wants to play, get involved or just come and enjoy the shows!
All money raised on the door of our live shows goes direct to the people who provide the entertainment, to replace equipment and to cover any expenses incurred for putting on the show. We don’t make a penny, we're just music fans, hoping to surprise, confound and entertain you on a regular basis."
A new local label is springing up in Canterbury, putting out music and running shows. Here’s what Danny Kitchener and buddies had to tell us about Easter Island Records:
‘Easter island is an equal part collective of fan boys, musicians and dorks, we're young (ish-ish) and fundamentally just want to put out records from local artists for local artists. We're not about profit, pussy or prestige, but about putting out local exciting music and helping to nurture and promote their craft. Our vision is not limited just to what’s cool, what’s current and our next releases reflect our varied music tastes. We’ve got a couple of exciting releases from Mass lines and the Spanish infanta on the way, closely being stalked by Godaughter (shameless self-promotion) and the lil yee boys. Eventually we want to wander outside of our comfort zones and do creative projects involving mixed media and words. So yeah, get comfy, plug in and stay tuned. Easter island might one day be the ‘real deal’.’ Danny, Sam, Aaron & Chris.
